Lecture 10 - Gaining final critiques

Barry Dawn's Critiqued Journey:

Looking at Brief deliverables:

There is a lot to get together for hand-ins.

Critique:

Tristam said to do another User Journey for Mike Richards, I have done this with Mike searching for an article in the Middle East. Also the cellphone drop-down menu should work on every page.

Website - Coded Article:

Critique with Tim, this went really well and he said my site is looking real and true to my prototype. I changed the prototype display with critique so I consistently updated this in code also. Tim also helped me to get the top bar all the way across the top of the site.

Mike Richards User Journey:

Mikes User Journey is very similar to Barry Dawns but it shows the interactivity of the map from another perspective and the idea of scrolling out of the map then going back into somewhere else.

Mobile Drop Down Menu:

This dropdown menu now consumes the whole page and is successful with how it will now be used for every page as a link, although it isn't a part of my user journeys it adds to the functionality of my website.

Desktop Drop Down Menu:

Working on the functionality through adding and removing the drop down menu on the map pages allowing the user to add or remove the drop downs.

TO DO:

- Create Document with all of the information
- Edit stuff in the section for events in Wellington!!!!!!!
- Make dropdown page a symbol and connect to every page

- User site map
- User analysis review 500 words?
- RAtIONAL
- UX and UI write up!!

If you have time make more and more pages up in XD especially pages for the recent Mike Richards journey and or another page in Brackets.

Continued Prototyping

Taking on critiques and using experience as a user to create a more refined website -

My reflection:

I think these user journeys are well refined and I am happy with how this site has progressed. With adding the option for a burger menu on all of my pages this means that the site is a lot more accessible for everyone. Also adding the zoom in and out gives the feeling this map is supposed to be more like a google map, not like a click map. Also moving the audio player down on the desktop site I feel like this makes the site look more pleasing, and it also gives the idea that you can scroll and read the article behind the listen option at the same time.

Back to research to check I'm not missing functions

Looking at the stuff website:

Although I have done this many times it is important to keep checking back and ensuring there isn't vital functions my website is missing.

One big thing my site is missing is advertisements, which I am happy not to include in my site. An 'ideal' website wouldn't need advertisements.

The login / sign up option is an option on every page with this. Should I include this?

The pages also have a footer, with my user journey's I have taken out the footer and used my website similar to a dashboard with all articles etc all on one page without needing scroll.

"Latest news headlines" "editors' picks" "most popular"

I have this page successfully. The only thing is the menus.

I'm thinking about adding the option to zoom in and out on my map. I think this will be a good advancement.

Soundcloud:

I see the soundcloud website to be very similar to my style and the simplicity of the design and user journey. It is a very simple website but there are some aspects and details which soundcloud has, that I will add into my design. The option to sign in, the use of the three dot hamburger menu as well.

The music player is also very small at the bottom of the page.

Lecture 9 - Critiques

Tristam and Tim's Critiques:

'Kill your babies' - this design needs more improvement, think about making it more 'real' needs more details, what is the site missing?

Here is a few notes of where to go and where to continue developing my site.

Four User Journeys on my current website

Sarah Blake - Desktop

Barry Dawn - Desktop Journey 1

Barry Dawn - Desktop Journey 2

Hemi Kamana - Mobile

Hiyan Zhang - Mobile

I am happy with how my user journeys and personae are relating and navigating through my site for their own enjoyment and functionality. I feel that this site is something much more modern to existing news sites and definitely more user-functional.
